The Marana Tigers took Thursday's game over the Yuma Criminals in dramatic fashion, with an 8-7 walk-off victory. The Tigers, who were down 7-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Adrial Ramirez came to the plate, Adrial singled, scoring two runs to walk it off.
Jude Luckow started the 7th inning rally by doubling to lead off the frame. After a strikeout, Julian Llamas took a ball off the arm to put the winning run aboard. Cason Summerhays came in to pinch run for Julian to get some more speed on the bases and Tyler Johnson then worked a 6-pitch at-bat for a walk to put the winning run into scoring position.
Adrial then came to the plate, smoking a 1-0 pitch to right field to plate two runs, sending the Tigers, Coach Wrigley McGuire, and the Tiger faithful into a frenzy! This was the first win for the Marana Tigers this season after four tough losses, this also marks the first win in Coach McGuire's coaching career.
Kai Colgan started the game on the mound for the Tigers, striking out 5 and walking none. The southpaw pitched well, going 6.1 innings allowing only 3 earned runs and kept the Tigers in the game. Jaden Villareal came in for relief and got the win after striking out two in the top of the 7th to end the Yuma Criminals threat to grow the lead and keep it a one run game heading to the bottom of the 7th.
Both teams had their chances in the game, but eventually the Tigers took the lead (and the win) thanks to a gritty team performance in the final inning propelling Marana to victory.
