Kai Colgan threw a complete game shutout, allowing no runs and only two hits. He struck out seven and walked only one. Colgan's stellar pitching helped keep the Sabercats of Sabino at bay the entire game and allowed the Tigers to slowly pull away and finish the game in six innings.
The Tigers scored two early runs after Connor Ellis was hit by a pitch to begin the game, he stole 2nd base and then 3rd, the throw to third got away from the 3rd baseman and it allows Connor to come around to score. Preston Robbins, the 4th batter of the inning was also hit by a pitch and then Jaden Villareal doubled him home to make it two nothing after the first frame.
The Tigers scored one each in the 3rd and 4th innings and then in the 5th piled on with five runs and another three in the 3rd to break it open. Colgan then did his job with a defense behind him that did not give up an error.
Marana's record improves to 5-8 on the season, they will travel to 2024 4A State runner-up Canyon Del Oro on Thursday, March 27th.
