Head coach Travis Smith brings more than 12 years of coaching experience and a lifelong connection to the Marana community.

A proud Marana High School graduate, Travis has spent much of his coaching career developing young athletes within the same community that helped shape him. His experience spans every level of the game, from Marana Little League and Marana Middle School to competitive youth baseball and, most recently, Marana High School, where he served as Head Junior Varsity Baseball Coach.

In 2019, Travis founded the Tucson Freedom Fighters Youth Baseball Organization, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on providing young athletes opportunities to develop, compete, and grow through the game of baseball. He coached within the organization for several seasons and remained involved in supporting the program and its athletes through 2023. Many players Travis worked with throughout their youth baseball years have continued their baseball careers at the high school level.

Travis also dedicated ten seasons to Marana Little League, served on its Board of Directors, and was selected as the 2023 Marana Little League 12U All-Star Head Coach.

Travis is committed to building a competitive and successful Marana Baseball program while developing student-athletes through accountability, discipline, teamwork, integrity, and hard work. His vision is to create a culture where athletes are challenged to compete at a high level, continue to grow on and off the field, and take pride in representing Marana. He looks forward to strengthening relationships throughout the local baseball community, creating opportunities for young athletes to develop, and building a strong foundation for the continued growth and success of Marana Baseball.

For Travis, returning to lead the baseball program at his alma mater is an opportunity to give back to the school and community that have been such an important part of his life.
