The Tigers had a good day of baseball today winning two games to finish pool play at the 2025 Chris Moon Memorial Tournament 2-1.

In the first game of the day against Frederick HS from Colorado Brandon Collings got the start. The senior righty surrendered 3 earned runs (6 total) and struck out 8 batters. The offense came through in the first game of the day scoring a season high 9 runs off 8 hits. The Tigers took advantage of 9 free baserunners, 6 walks and 3 hit batters.

Breyson Ellis entered the game to relieve Brandon in the 6th inning, Breyson, a Sophomore, closed out the game pitching 1 2/3 innings, striking out 2 and earning his first career save in the process.

The highlight of the game 1 was Connor Ellis straight steal of home, catching the opposing pitcher napping.

In the 2nd game of the day, junior Wyatt Meza took the mound against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy for his first start of the season. Wyatt was stealer in his outing, striking out 8 and giving up only one unearned run. Wyatt was dominant from the start and never relented. In the 4th inning he got himself into a bit of a jam by walking the first two batters of the inning, however, he then pitched his way around the trouble by striking out the next two and getting the final batter to pop up to end the threat.

In the 5th inning the Tigers added some insurance runs. Adriel Ramirez took the first pitch of the inning and smashed a homer over the right field fence. It was his and the teams first home run of the season.

A infield single by Connor Ellis and a subsequent stolen base helped the Tigers add another run after Jude Luckow singled, making it a 3-0 lead.

Pusch Ridge added a run in the top of the 6th after a passed ball put runners in scoring position allowing a run on a ground out. That was all they could muster with Wyatt finishing them off in the 6th and Adriel Ramirez closing out the game in the 7th.

The two wins today pushed Marana's record to 3-6 on the season, they look to stay hot tomorrow as bracket play begins.
